CONCORD, NH—The Moose tipped off against YSCC Conference opponent NHTI on Sunday, November 20th for the Championship game of the NHTI Hogan Camps Thanksgiving Tournament. Contributions from the entire Moose team were key from the start of the game. The Moose came out swinging with an early 16-11 lead over NHTI led by Lindsey Clark who had 6 of her 13 points in the first quarter. Courntey Dunton had the spark in the second, connecting 4-7 adding in 9 points on the quarter. The Moose were able to capitalize on this offensive run and hold the Lynx to just 9 points in the second.
The Moose had a lead at the half over the Lynx that was extended to 16; 36-20. The third quarter was led by senior captain, Jamie Plummer, who added 14 points to the Moose lead. NHTI came back with a spurt in the forth quarter but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Moose. UMA would go on to win the championship game 72-51.
Four UMA players finished in double-digits scoring: Jamie Plummer with 19, Lindsey Clark with 13, Carmen Bragg with 15, and Courtney Dunton added 13. Bri Soucy led the team with offensive boards pulling down 3. This momentum allowed the Moose to take off in a crucial turning point early on.
Senior Jamie Plummer pulled in her 1,000 career rebound in the game, recording 17. Plummer was awarded All-Tournament Team for her efforts. Dunton was honored with the MVP of the Tournament.
NHTI was lead by Riselly Deoleo who had 23 points overall.
The Moose take on SMCC on Tuesday, November 22nd at the Augusta Civic Center. Tip off is at 6p.m. with the men’s game to follow at 8p.m. Go Moose!
