Moose Blow Past Owls

AUGUSTA, ME— The Lady Moose took on USCAA opponent University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls on Monday night at the Augusta Civic Center.  UMA took an early lead with an 8-0 run to start the game and never looked back.  The Moose kept the lead the entire game with strong outside shooting and textbook ball movement.  Most impressively, UMA out-rebounded the Owls 59-28 (25 of those rebounds being offensive.  Freshman Kylie Kemp (Monmouth, ME) led the Moose in offensive rebounding with six.  Kemp had 15 points and 12 rebounds.  Carmen Bragg (Washburn, ME) was 4-7 from beyond the arc and gave the Moose a 21 point boost and pulled down 10 rebounds.  Co-captain Jamie Plummer (Richmond, ME) had a game high 23 points while pulling in 8 rebounds. 

Jessica St. Amand (Windsor, ME) pitched in eight points and five rebounds but more impressively held UMPI’s biggest three point shooting threat to only one three pointer for the entirety of the game with her tenacious defense.  Kori Coro  (Jackman, ME) entered the game and added to the Lady Moose perimeter game hitting (2) three-point shots.  Coro ended with 9 points and 11 rebounds.  Monique Moore fought on the boards pulling down seven and adding two points.  UMA’s post players made a big defensive impact for the Moose. Morgan Harrington (Richmond, ME) was a presence in the paint shutting down UMPI’s post players and pulling down a rebound and boasting a block.  Erica Fredrick-Rock (Augusta, ME) connected for two points and Krystin Kemp (Monmouth, ME) brought the defensive intensity.

Leading for the Owls was junior Darby Toth who had 21 points.  Sydney Churchill pitched in 15 points while Rebecca Campbell had 10.

The Moose went on to win 80-57 over UMPI improving to 7-4 overall.  The Moose are back in action on Thursday at the Augusta Civic Center against conference opponent Eastern Maine Community College.  Both the men’s and women’s basketball teams will be accepting food donations for the Augusta Food Bank.  GO MOOSE!
