Moose Basketball Teams Earn Five YSCC Awards

AUGUSTA, ME – The University of Maine at Augusta men’s and women’s basketball teams were honored with a combined total of five awards from the Yankee Small College Conference.  Jamie Plummer, Brandon Rogers, Keith Chesley, and Coach Jennifer Laney all received individual honors, while the men received the YSCC Team Sportsmanship award.

Plummer earned Women’s Player of the Year honors, after averaging 20.6 points, 11.4 rebounds, and 2 blocks per game. Plummer led all United States Collegiate Athletic Association players in total points, finishing off the regular season by scoring her 1,000th point against New Hampshire Technical Institute.

Rogers was named to the YSCC men’s All-Conference First Team after leading all USCAA players in both total rebounds, with 358, and rebounds per game, with an average of 13.8.  Rogers also finished third in the nation in scoring, finishing with 592 points and an average of 22.8 points per game.  Rogers scored his 1,000th point this season against Eastern Maine Community College.

Chesley earned YSCC men’s All-Conference Second Team honors this season after scoring a USCAA-leading 674 points, averaging 24.1 points per game.  Chesley also finished third in the USCAA in total rebounds, grabbing 274 boards on the season good for an average of 9.9 per game.  Chesley also reached the 1,000 point milestone this season against Unity College.

Women’s basketball head coach Jennifer Laney was honored as Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year after leading the Lady Moose to a 16-9 regular season record, including a 10-4 regular season conference record.  The Lady Moose finished the season ranked 10th in the nation in the USCAA Coaches Poll.
