Lady Moose Put Up Strong Fight

LEWISTON, Maine – The Lady Moose traveled to Lewiston, ME to take on NCAA Division III Bates College at the Alumni Gymnasium for the first time in school history on December 3, 2014.  It was the Lady Moose who controlled the entire twenty minutes of the first half giving the Bobcats a run for their money. 

The Moose came out to an early lead in the game.  Sophomore, Jamie Plummer (Richmond, ME) hit a jumper at the 9:19 mark, followed by a three by freshman point guard Carmen Bragg (Washburn, ME).  This began a 12-3 run by the Moose, giving them a 32-22 lead with 4:52 left in the first. Three-pointers by Brown and Connors in the final minute of the period closed the gap to 40-35 at the break.  UMA led by as many as 10 points.  Plummer and Kemp had 10 points apiece at the break; for Bates, Brown had 12 and Connors 11.

Bates came out in the second half with the momentum and shifting the lead going up by 10 points within the first 8 minutes.  The lead held steady around 12 points for the Bobcats until Plummer knocked down a 3 pointer bringing UMA within nine points in the final four minutes.   Sharp shooting by Bates down the homestretch secured them the 80-66 win against UMA.  

Jamie Plummer led the Lady Moose with 25 points, eight rebounds and five blocked shots. Kylie Kemp (Monmouth, ME) added 14 points, making 5-of-6 from the field and 4-of-4 from the foul line, and adding three steals. Carmen Bragg contributed 12 points, six rebounds and five assists.  Jessica St. Amand (Windsor, ME) had seven points, five boards, and three assists.  Kori Coro (Jackman, ME) added six points and seven boards for the Moose, while Monique Moore (Jefferson, ME) finished with two points and four rebounds.

The Moose are back in action at home against the University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls on Monday, December 8th at 5:00p.m.  GO MOOSE!
