In the front of the photo off centered to the left, is a women's basketball player wearing a white uniform. She looks to have beaten her defensive opponent. Her legs are formed as if she is walking up a flight of stairs. Both arms are slightly bent at an angle as the ball is released up to the net. Her pony tail is trailing behind her. Opposing team player in dark blue with green lettering reading "BRISTOL 3", has her hands in the air for defense and is watching the UMA players move towards the net. Another UMA team member on the opposite side of the net is making a run towards the hoop in case of a rebound.

AUGUSTA, ME— Freshman guard Kylie Kemp (Monmouth, ME) recorded her first collegiate double-double for the Lady Moose in their game against Central Maine Community College Mustangs Wednesday night at the Augusta Civic Center.

The Lady Moose dug themselves a hole trailing 17-2 in first eight minutes with icy shooting.  After two early fouls, co-captain Jamie Plummer (Richmond, ME) sat within the first three minutes.  Plummer later fouled out with five minutes left in the game but finished with 12 points and eight boards.

However it was Central Maine’s pressure that tailed to the Lady Moose offensive struggles.  “We were able to break their high intensity press,” says Coach Laney.  “However, ultimately there were just too many lulls where we could not score the ball.”  The Mustangs finished the game shooting 51% on the evening, sealing off an 83-49 win against the Moose.

The Lady Moose were able to contain Central Maine’s well known three point shooting holding CM to only one three pointer throughout the game.  It was their strong paint presence from Laura Soohey that troubled the Moose.

Co-captain, Jessica St. Amand (Windsor, ME) also chipped in 11 points and seven steals for the Lady Moose.   Freshman Monique Moore (Jefferson, ME) finished with eight points and five boards, while Carmen Bragg (Washburn, ME) had seven points and five assists.  Expect to see the Lady Moose improve as they continue to grow together as a team.

Next up the Lady Moose travel to Concord, NH to take on NHTI for a matchup against the 3-0 Lynx. Tipoff starts at 5:30.
