AUGUSTA, ME-- The UMA women’s basketball team hosted Pine Manor College of Newton, Massachusetts on November 29th, 2016 at the Augusta Civic Center. The Moose got off to a fast start leading by as much as 9 in the first quarter. Matched intensity and speed forced both teams to truly dig in. The Gators battled back in the second quarter and the teams went into the half tied 28-28.
The Gators found their rhythm in the second half. The Moose fight and determination allowed them to pull within 3 with 7 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter but unfortunately a late spurt from the Gators allowed them to pull ahead in the final minutes. The Gators went on to win 72-61.
Jamie Plummer had a season high of 28 points and 19 rebounds, and 3 assists. Caitlin LaFountain also contributed 11 points and 7 rebounds.
The Moose will take on NCAA Division III powerhouse Norwich University on Friday, December 2nd, in Northfield, Vermont as they travel for the Ed Hockenbury tournament.
