Flewelling Commits to Moose Basketball

AUGUSTA, Maine – Halee Flewelling has committed to playing basketball for the University of Maine at Augusta women's basketball team, it was announced Thursday morning by UMA Athletic Director Jennifer Laney. Flewelling, a 2015 graduate of Messalonskee High School is attending UMA working towards a degree in Nursing.

"I decided upon UMA because it was close to home, and I knew that I could get a great education for an affordable price," noted Flewelling.  As far as basketball is concerned, Flewelling mentions, “Both the team and coaches have been absolutely great. They have reached out to me and made me feel so welcome already. I am excited to be part of such a great team and program.”

In high school, Flewelling was a member of the National Honor Society in both her junior and senior years.  She received both high honors and high honors with distinction all four years of high school. She was also awarded KVAC All- Star and All-Academic in her senior year at Messalonskee.

Flewelling will join the Moose who return an extremely solid foundation from their 2015-16 season.  “Halee will bring an incredible amount of energy, versatility, and defensive fire to the team,” boasts Head Coach Jennifer Laney.  “She will make a solid impact on both ends of the floor and we are thrilled to bring her into our family.”

“Defense has always been my strong suit and I am able to play wherever I am needed,” reflects Flewelling on her court style.  “I am hoping to contribute great defense, and also be a dependable player to both my teammates and coaches.”
