Five Student-Athletes are Rising Scholars

Five Student-Athletes are Rising Scholars

Five student-athletes will be honored as Rising Scholars at Convocation this year.  Brandon Rogers (Turlock, CA), Jamie Plummer (Richmond, ME), Courtney Jicks (Lake Charles, Louisiana), Kimberly Carter (Princeton, ME), and Erica Fredrick-Rock (Corinna, ME) join other Moose athletes as UMA’s Rising Scholars.  This high honor comes from nominations by faculty and staff.  Students are nominated because they have excelled in academics, engaged in the UMA community, or whom faculty/staff believe shows great potential and promise as student scholars.

Current UMA Moose that were honored as Rising Scholars last year were Jesse Walker (Lisbon Falls, ME), Jacob Roddy (Belgrade, ME) and Keith Chesley (Clinton, ME).

The athletic department prides itself on the academic accomplishments of our student-athletes.  In addition to participation in athletics, many of these student-athletes serve on various student committees, serve as student ambassadors, and participate in emerging leader programs.  They have earned this recognition because of their success in the classroom, on the court/field/green, and all around our campus community.  GO MOOSE!
