UMA Finishes Strong at USCAA Golf Championship

STATE COLLEGE, PA – The final day of the 2018 USCAA Golf National Championships was held yesterday and both Ty Cowan and John “Zach” Alden picked up where they left off in individual play on Monday.

Both Cowan and Alden put together another great round of golf in the final day of individual play with Cowan shooting 78 and Alden shooting 80 at the end of the day. Cowan finished with a two-day score of 155 good enough to tie for 38th place overall nationally. Alden finished the tournament with a score of 159 good for 48th.

Ty Cowan’s two rounds of 77 and 78 at the USCAA Championship mark the best rounds of golf by any UMA golfer at the National Championship.

Sean Barron on SUNY ESF captured the individual championship with a tournament record seven-under-par 137 after his three-under-par 69 on Tuesday.  Colton Kuppler of St. Mary of the Woods was second with a 138, while teammate Ben Myers was third with a 139.  All three of those broke the previous tournament record by Tommy Stirling of Southern Maine CC who shot a four-under-140 in the 2011 tournament.

UMA Golf is gearing up for the YSCC conference championship this weekend on October 13th at the Pease Golf Course in New Hampshire.
