Sadie Garling Signs with UMA Moose

AUGUSTA, ME--  On Friday, January 24th, 2020, Waterville High School standout, Sadie Garling signed her commitment to attend and play basketball for the University of Maine at Augusta.   Garling has been a four-year starter at Waterville High School and has served in the captain role for the last two years.  She has been recognized by the KVAC conference receiving state recognition as well.  Garling was named to the All-Rookie team her freshman year, selected to the 2nd team all-conference her sophomore year, and selected first team all-conference and KVAC Class B North Player of the Year her junior year. As a junior, she was named to the third team All-State team.

Garling is a very well-rounded student athlete. She is very active in both her school and community. Sadie serves as an ambassador to the freshmen class at Waterville High School and as seen as a peer mentor to her classmates by her teachers. Her leadership and commitment to people's growth are characteristics that come natural to her. Garling volunteers her time throughout her community. She supports the Humane Society; caring for animals waiting for foster families and adoption. The Waterville food bank and soup kitchen are organizations where Sadie has volunteered her time helping her community.

At UMA, Garling plans to explore the Liberal Studies program at UMA.  Coach Seavey notes, “Sadie is the type of player who can change the complexation of the game at either end of the court.  She is a fierce competitor who is the ultimate TEAM player.  I am very excited for the opportunity to coach Sadie over the next four years”.

Please help us welcome Sadie Garling to the Moose family.
