Jim Seavey Named UMA Head Women's Basketball Coach

AUGUSTA, ME -- The University of Maine at Augusta Athletic Department has announced the hiring of Jim Seavey as Head Women’s Basketball Coach.  “We are thrilled to welcome Coach Seavey to the Moose family,” said Laney.  “Jim has a very impressive coaching resume and his passion for developing successful teams through communication and dedication as well as his focus on building player relationships will make him a great fit here at UMA.”

With an impressive coaching background that includes 230 wins in 20 seasons, Coach Seavey recorded three Western Maine Basketball Titles in Maine including Class A in 2010 as well as in Class B in 2003 & 2004.  He lead his teams to the Western Maine Basketball tournament in 14 out of his 20 seasons.  He also coaches three Miss Maine Basketball Finalists including two winners.  He served as the Varsity Girls Head Coach at Greely High School for six years, Scarborough High School for five years, and Freeport High School for two years. New head coach Jim Seavey is excited to begin his new role at UMA and said, "I have always strived to have teams/programs feel like family and all indications thus far make me feel as though UMA is a tight knit group. I am very excited for this upcoming season. I have always dreamed of being a head coach at the collegiate level." 

Coach Seavey also served as the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach for University of Southern Maine under head coach Gary Fifield.
